Location
The village is 10 minutes from the A30 and close to Dartmoor and North Tawton. Sampford Courtenay is one of the prettiest villages in West Devon and has many thatched cottages and an interesting C15 church. There is an excellent thatched public house, The New Inn, a few minutes walk from Weirford House, has excellent food and drink on offer. North Tawton is 2 miles away and has all essential shops including a cafe, fish and chip restaurant, Spar supermarket, newsagent and a Post Office. Okehampton is about 10 minutes away with Waitrose, Co-op and Lidle supermarkets and a wide range of shops and restaurants.
Directions
Using Sat Nav Set the postcode to: EX20 2SY this will take to you to the square by St Andrew’s Church. Continue about 50 yards past the church and the Barton until you see a stone cross on the right and the Weirford House sign. Turn right down the lane for about 25 yards to find Weirford House.
From Exeter, take the A30 to Whiddon Down and leave at the slip road (A382), turn right onto the B321, signposted Winkleigh and Torrington. Follow this road to De Bath cross at North Tawton, turning left onto the A3072. At the next junction turn right to remain on the A3072, signposted Winkleigh and Sampford Courtenay. Remain on the A3072 and at the bottom of the hill turn right at the New Inn. Continue past the church and the Barton until you see a stone cross on your right and the Weirford House sign. Turn right down the lane and after about 25 yards find Weirford House.
From Okehampton, Take the Crediton road, B3215 to Belstone Corner and turn left, signposted Sampford Courtenay. When you reach the village, go straight over the mini roundabout, keeping the New Inn on your right. Go up the main street, past the Church and The Barton on the right. Turn right down a small lane by a stone cross and a signpost to Weirford House. The house is 25 yards down the lane.
